DBW READER SPOTLIGHT HONOREE: Meredith Coleman McGee is a published author, a book publisher, the event coordinator of the Jackson Book Festival, the chair of Community Library Mississippi, and the owner of “Typing Solutions Résumés & Etc.” which is a business that she has operated for 21 years. She is a widow and has one stepson.
While Meredith was growing up in Jackson, the second-generation writer says her family had a love for reading and the written arts. From her uncle, James Meredith, a writer and the first African American to integrate the University of Mississippi, to her mother, writer Hazel Janell Meredith Coleman, who encouraged McGee to read, it was almost inevitable for her to have her own career in the written arts.
Her most recent book is “Billie Holiday: Jazz Singer”. She is also hosting the Jackson Book Festival on 3/9/2024 at the Jackson Medical Mall, Center Stage. This will be an in-person event. For more information about Meredith please visit her author page
